"Hello, I have lived around the corner from the location of Visionary Optics for the past 25 years. I had been a customer of a previous owner of an optical store at that location. When it was time for my wife and I to have our vision checked and buy new glasses, we decided to try out the new store. We received attentive service and they gave us excellent guidance when picking out new frames. The staff will not yes, yes you to death just to try and sell you frames that are not right for your face. From reading some negative reviews, I suppose some people prefer not to listen to an honest evaluation from professionals. My wife and I have continued to use Visionary Optics." - Vincent and Miyuki
"Visionary Optics is a very upscale, family owned Optical. The optometrist was very thorough, and the frames (for those in the know) are all high quality brands. The owner has no reservations about letting you know what he thinks of your own frames, which is off-setting at first, but he has a great eye for exactly which frames fits your face, and just wants you to find something you look great in. I don't know what some of the other reviewers are talking about; the opticians here care more than anything about the quality of their work, and are more than happy to do repairs anytime like replacing screws, etc. I'm very impressed with the services I've received, and if anyone wants to complain about the prices of the high-end brands they stock, go to a big chain optical, where you get cheap brands made from materials that won't last. "Visionary Optics on 3rd Avenue is one of the best places in Manhattan to get a eye exam by an expert, an accurate prescription and great frames that fit all budgets. I first became a customer in 2007 and got an excellent prescription and great frames. Lee was the Optometrist and his father assisted in finding me frames that looked great. I made the mistake of going to one of the larger chains in Manhattan in January 2010 and got an eye exam with a prescription and frames because this chain was closest to my office. I can't see out of those glasses and the chain could not get it right. I have been wearing the glasses I got at Visionary Optics from 2007 as they were much better than what I got at "L" in January. I went back to Visionary Optics this week and have to say, I knew immediatley that I should not have wasted time at the chain. Lee is an excellent Optometrist who knows exactly what he is doing and David spent alot of time with me looking at frames determining the best that suited my budget and the look that was right for me.' "Shopping for eyeglasses is usually very hard for me, the staff at Visionary Optics took great care to set me at ease not only as a patient but as a customer as well. The exam was thorough and very professional. I've never had an optician display such concern for my eyes. I was afforded several options for frames some were more expensive than others but they assisted in finding the right pair at the right price. I'd also like to note that if a pair looked less than flattering on my face, the owner had no reservations about telling me. The interest in me being happy with my glasses was genuine and I am so happy with the choice I made.
