About Jacques Marie Mage

Jacques Marie Mage, often shortened to JMM, is an eyewear house founded in 2014 by Jérôme Jacques Marie Mage. The frames are designed in Los Angeles and handcrafted in Japan and Italy. The first collection arrived in Spring 2015, with the Dealan and the Zephirin among its styles. JMM calls its pieces small-batch collectibles, and most models are made in limited production runs. When you see a JMM model name, such as the JMM Hemmings or the JMM Molino, it refers to a Jacques Marie Mage frame.

By JMM's own account, a pair goes through a 300-step process over about 18 months, and nearly 100 artisans work on it. The acetate frames start as 10 mm blocks of cellulose acetate, and every frame goes through a twenty-point measurement test.

Sunglasses and optical frames

Most of the Jacques Marie Mage frames we stock are sunglasses, with a smaller optical range beside them. Some optical styles share their shape with a sunglass model, so if you like a frame in sun, ask us about its optical version.

Sizing a JMM frame

JMM groups its frames by width, from Small up to Wide, using the lens and bridge measurements printed on each model. The Zephirin is a good example: the Zephirin 44 measures 44-22-142 and is a Small, while the Zephirin 47 measures 47-26-142 and is a Medium. If you are between sizes, trying both on is the quickest way to decide, and our opticians can adjust the fit once you have chosen.

Prescription lenses in JMM frames

Every Jacques Marie Mage optical frame at Visionary Optics can be fit with ZEISS prescription lenses, and most single-vision prescriptions are ready the same day. We also fit progressive and specialty lenses, which take longer to make.
