Dr. Lee Gelman
Dr. Lee Gelman has been in practice since 2005. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from SUNY State College of Optometry in 2005, earning a graduate degree in the Doctor of Optometry. He then went on to do his residency specializing in Ocular Pathology at the Newington VA Hospital. Dr. Gelman also has an undergraduate degree in civil engineering from Vanderbilt University, where he also graduated with the honors of Magna Cum Laude.
Aside from performing comprehensive eye exams, which include treating a plethora of ocular diseases he also specializes in all contact lens fits including multifocal, multifocal toric, and gas permeable contact lenses. Dr. Gelman takes pride and is passionate about achieving the best visual acuity possible for each and every single one of his patients.
In addition volunteering in the community during his spare time, Dr. Gelman also enjoys and is compassionate about volunteering his expertise in various eye care missions to provide eye care for those less fortunate in developing countries. He has volunteered his expertise in eye care in rural parts of Jamaica and Peru in eye care missions in the past with non-profit organizations such as VOSH (Volunteering Optometric Services to Humanity).
Dr. Jessica Wang
Dr. Wang is a licensed optometrist and is certified in the treatment of ocular diseases. Originally from Dallas, Texas, she graduated Cum Laude in both Neuroscience and Arts & Performance. She then received her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry. During her time in optometry school, she was a student fellow of the Academy and was awarded the Minnie L. Maffett scholarship for Women’s Excellence in Healthcare. She also performed many vision screenings for elementary schools and special needs patients throughout Houston.
While at UHCO, Dr. Wang completed externships with Kathryn Musgrove, MD at Houston Eye Associates and with the Cherokee Nation Indian Health Services in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She has provided both primary and specialized care to over one thousand patients, with a special emphasis in ocular disease, post-operative care management, pediatric eye examinations, and sensorimotor evaluations. Dr. Wang is especially interested in cases of dry eye, double vision, and ‘lazy eye’.
Dr. Wang is fluent in Mandarin Chinese as well as English and is proficient in eye examinations in Spanish. She strongly believes in proper patient education as a part of comprehensive eye care.
She currently lives in Long Island City and loves to watch reality TV and try new restaurants. To balance out her eating habits, she is often spends her evenings at the gym. Her favorite hobbies include shopping, exploring the city, and going to Trader Joe’s to buy 6 pounds of avocados at a time.
Dr. Andrew Elm
Dr. Elm is a licensed optometrist providing full-scope comprehensive eye exams. Originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin, he received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Utah before receiving his Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University in Oregon. While at school, Dr. Elm served on the admissions committee, as a student ambassador, and as President of the Ocular Wellness and Nutrition Society. He also gained experience studying at the Salt Lake City VA Hospital, providing eye care to military veterans.
Dr. Elm believes proper patient education is an integral part of any eye exam. He works to provide the best quality vision for each patient, striving for comfort and confidence in their everyday eyewear decisions.
His first passion is snowboarding, which has taken him all over the world, and in return, he now enjoys teaching the younger generation the sport. In his free time, you may find him on lengthy bike rides, experimenting with cooking new foods or seeing live music with his friends. His autumn Sundays are spent cheering on his hometown team, the Green Bay Packers.
